"I am so grateful to Kayamanan Ng Lahi and the California Humanities for making the Pamana Media Project possible. Seeing the children of Pamana learn new storytelling skills to be able to document and share their own narratives are priceless and to have serves as the Project Director for this grant was such a wonderful learning experience in my growth as an arts administrator.

It is my sincere hope that the children of Pamana continue to create their rich narratives to share with the world around them"

"Being part of the Pamana media project was a great honor. I’ve always been an advocate for story tellers no matter what medium, and seeing these young people learn how to tell stories in this digital age was very heart warming. I was very proud to see their finished works and seeing them apply some of the story telling and journalistic methods they learned during the program. It also great to see how they used this opportunity to learn and understand their cultures. Kudos! Hope to see more of this often."

"The PAMANA project, in partnership with Kayamanan ng Lahi, was able to achieve in just a few months, a comprehensive, holistic process of educational creativity that was wonderfully collaborative—between parents and children, including community experts and academic scholars, and across generations. Its cumulative media and cultural dance production was an intrinsic merging of Philippine heritage and Filipino American youth experience that not only provided resonant heritage enrichment, but galvanized cultural empowerment as well.”

"The Pamana Media project was a great opportunity for the youth of Kayamanan Ng Lahi to dive in to the art of filmmaking. I was invited to sit in one of the workshops and share feedback. Although the films were still work-in-progress, I was impressed by the passion with which the kids, ages 7-17, told their story, in such a genuine and caring manner. The subject they chose to interview were their parents or grandparents, and I can only imagine how much insight they gained talking to their family in that setting for the first time. At the screening, I was happy to see that they took my general notes and improved upon the editing techniques. One of the shorts even made me tear up!

The exposure the youth got into filmmaking in a structured program was an incredible experience, and they're only touching the surface. The future is bring for these young storytellers!

"Being a part of the Pamana Media project and sharing my interviewing experiences was an honor. It was inspiring to see our youth engaged and passionate about telling our stories. Oftentimes, our voices and contributions to society as Fil Ams, as Asian Ams, are muted and unrepresented. It was great to see young people not afraid but PROUD to claim our space and live our truths."
